The basic idea for this play is pressure. Being an IB student especially, we are under a lot of stress and pressure to succeed. I felt the pressure to start thinking about college in 9th grade. I have also heard stories from a couple kids at school saying that they hate their classes. When I asked why, they told me "My parents want me to do (insert class or proffesion). This got me thinking about pressure and school, and "These are the Best Year of Your Life!?" was born. (I shall do character discriptions later)
In the end, Brecht is going to be my theoretical underpinning. But for now, I am going to use Realism and the Stanislavski method, since that are what my actors are used to. But after the first showing, I will take what I have and add Brecht, and make it into a piece of Epic Theatre.
That is the goal for this Independent Project
